Standard definition of wire-frames:
The wireframes are the skeleton of your application, a simplified visual concept of the future app. It doesn’t give any idea about the design but helps to understand how the application will work.
A wireframe shows:

- Object categories
- Content prioritization
- Possible actions
- Visual branding elements
It’s basically an architectural blueprint of your application and it’s very useful in determining how the user interacts with the interface. Your wireframe should be a visual guide to the framework of your site and how it will be navigated.
A wireframe doesn’t show:
- Design elements
- Colors
- Actual images
- Fonts
